Jenn Thayer: Director of SANE Training and Sustainability Project
Jenn graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biological and Chemical Sciences from Wells College in 2002, followed by a second Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Rochester in 2003. She received her Master’s in Nursing - Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 2006. Jenn is originally from Upstate New York and moved to Florida in 2006. Prior to coming to work at FCASV, Jenn’s professional career includes 8 years as a certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE-A) and Director of Nursing at the Certified Rape Crisis Center in Hillsborough County, Florida; 17 years as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) / certified pediatric nurse practitioner working in academia and in a pediatric gastroenterology office; and four years as a registered nurse in several Neonatal Intensive Care units (NICU) in New York and Florida. Helping women and children has always been Jenn’s passion, and she found her true calling in Sexual Assault Nursing. She has served on the Florida Chapter of the International Association of Forensic Nursing board, presented statewide and nationally, and has advanced training in strangulation, as well as non-profit management. When Jenn is not at work, she enjoys the beach, traveling, and spending time with her sons, Mason and Madden, and fiancé, Paul.
